Searching for my Major- Sculpture

Although I am still unsure of my top choice of major, I decided to visit the Sculpture department in the Main Arts building.

Sculpture is a newly introduced interest to me, but I find it interesting and full of opportunities to fully express myself. The sculpture department here at VCU is also full of these exciting opportunities.

The open space in the Sculpture department

Here is a photo I took of an open area in the sculpture department. (These open areas are rare to find.) The studio was quiet on the Wednesday evening, but the space was lively with half finished projects and remains of used materials. I enjoyed the messy atmosphere found all over; the scarps of steryofoam,   many bits of sawdust piled on the floor, and projects left out for anyone to see.

I also found the working/storage space interesting. Each person has a locker, which is divided into 4 or so slots. Each slot is for a student. The area used by the student was their own miniature studio, which was personalized by them for their own use.

Overall, I found the area very interesting, and will seriously consider this as my major!
